Cinderella Man

I listened to the audio book on tape. It is a very dramatic story. The movie made it even more dramatic. I liked how facts were worked into the story without being "narrated". (e.g. the announcer reviewing the portions of Braddock's career that was not in the movie) The first scene, where they are "on top of the world", before the Depression hit, is very poignant. There is a scan of money, jewels, etc, laying around on the dresser.

When Mae had to send the kids away, Jim marched down to the relief office, and then for help from the promoters and Madison Square Garden. I'm not sure if this timing is completely accurate, but it made for a good scene. Also, Jim only asked for money from Joe Gould. In the movie, he passes around his hat.

Russell Crowe does a great job as Jim; I found Renee Z to have approximately 2 facial expressions. The scenes during the Depression were especially powerful.

The movie is wonderful, head and shoulders above the book in this instance. And almost completely accurate, from what I could gather.
